Inspiration

I was inspired by SouleMama to buy a sewing machine...now granted, the last time I sewed anything was in high school, but I figure I can learn again. Plus, I have my secret weapon...MY mama :-)

I have always been a crafty person. I love scrapbooking, needlepoint, taking pictures, journaling, and there was a time when I loved sewing, but then my little singer sewing machine went kaput. It was a very old one that my mom had when she was growing up. I didn't know where I could get it repaired, so into the dumpster it went one day when I was having a particulary productive purge of my bedroom (before I left for college).

Now, all of a sudden, I have this strong desire to start making "things" again. I want to set up a room where I can just do crafting. Any type of crafting, it doesn't matter. I feel like I have lost my creative outlet since we started working on the house. One could say that remodeling my home should be a creative outlet, and to some extent it absolutely is. But, I am more of an instant gratification gal, and need to see something completed in a much shorter time frame then this house.

Matt is all supportive of me doing my crafty things, hoping that at some point we will start saving money, instead of just spending more money on buying craft supplies :-) The final straw for me to get the sewing machine, however, was related to the house. This house has a total of 30 windows...30 windows! What the heck were these people thinking...so after figuring out how much curtain panels are, and figuring out how much the fabric is for me to just MAKE the curtains...well making the curtains won out.

Since I was inspired to buy the sewing machine, I better use it :-) Let's hope I can find a table soon to put it on, and then relearn how to sew. Should be an interesting journey...one of many that I am on currently.
